A Q&A with Geoffrey and Twisted Fairytale
Let me begin real quick by congratulating you for being the first to request our new service. I'm super excited to be completing the first request, especially since you have posed some great questions! Well, let's get on it then!
Questionnaire:
How is the theme and layout of content on the site?

Well, at first glance, your theme looks very professional! I'm not sure if it's custom or free, but it definitely looks nice.
Normally, I'm not a fan of large headers, but it doesn't really bother me much on your site because it actually has equal margins around the whole site. I guess it takes someone with OCD to point that out! I decided to put the page into Fullscreen mode, and the large gap at the top actually goes away, and it looks very nice this way. Heh. Anyway... Like I said, I really enjoy the visuals of your blog, especially your front page. Your featured articles, if I may, are displayed prominently in a unique collage. They all give enough information to let me know if I'm interested in them or not, which is great. One negative I noticed about them though was that the whole image is not clickable, just a small arrow that appears in the bottom right. It would be nice if you didn't have to click the arrow, but that's a small feature!
Enough on the visuals, Twisted! Geez, I'm crazy! One thing that I'm impressed about is your content organization, or the layout of your content. You mention on your blog that it's about anything you want to talk about, so that can range a
wide variety of topics. You seem to nail organization right on the head by keeping categories vague enough to encompass anything you may want to talk about, but specific enough for me to say "Yeah, I want to read Media news." So to answer your question specifically, I believe the way you lay out and organize your content throughout the blog couldn't get any better!
How is the actual content on the site?

You mention on your About Me page that you wanted to be a Journalist. I completely believe that you have the writing capabilities to do so! Really, next time the Review Team accepts applications, you should apply! Heh, anyway: your writing is very beautiful. There are little to no grammar mistakes and I feel that you express your thoughts clearly and show in-depth progression as you move along. What I mean by that is: it's really easy to see what you are thinking, how you got there, and how you moved to the next thought. In addition, you express viewpoints in many of your articles that I would never have thought of myself. You have unique ideas and a very talented way of expressing them. I would not worry one bit about the quality of writing on your blog, as I am pretty jealous of your style right about now.

What can I do to promote a personal blog beyond social sharing and FP?

Well, I'll be honest: this is probably one of the hardest questions I've ever been asked about being a webmaster. I always give the answer to use social sharing and sites like Forum Promotion. So I got the chance to do a little digging for myself to answer this one!
😀
I did a quick Google search and came up with a very informative About article titled
10 Free Blog Promotion Tips that looks worth checking out. A few tips that they provide are things you're already doing like using FP and Social Media. Other tips like "Guest Blog" and "Hold a Blog Contest" are probably worth looking at, however those just go to increase your activity and not give you a significant amount of exposure, which is what I'm pretty sure you were asking about. I also found another article called
Blog Promotion: How Your Blog Can Kick Ass On Google. This article goes over more specifics on how to optimize your site for search engines, so when someone searches "Anchorman 2 Review," your site may come up as the 7th or 8th site on Google, which is probably the best exposure you could have. I mean, who doesn't want to be on Google?
I do hope that answers your question. My good friend
Red Herring had a really informative suggestion while I was writing this...
Red Herring said:
The reason I suggest commenting on related blogs (political blogs would be best, given Geoffrey's genre) is because who better to promote to than bloggers? And blogs have a website field. If Geoffrey took advantage of that, commenting on blogs related to his and filling out their website fields, he might draw some eyes of interest.
Not a bad idea, if I may say so myself! I hope those two articles,
Red Herring's thoughts, and my thoughts helped!
