A Q&A with jacktheking and phio_chan
Questionnaire:
What do you think about the current theme?
I think the current theme is simple, but it works. I remember this theme from ages ago and I liked it, yes. For the beginning, I'm happy to see that the banner image is related to the forum's genre. I do feel that the name of the forum is lost from the banner, though. And slogan too, although you 'said' that you do not need a slogan. (Nice slogan, but everybody needs a slogan!) I'd also love to see more customized images related to the forum's genre, which can probably be put as categories/forums icons, and maybe even buttons and ranks. That will definitely spice things up. The top navigation bar is very lonely for guests with only log-in and registration link there. Perhaps it can be shifted somewhere else and only available when there are more menu to see, for example. There is definitely room for improvements, but you can take it easy.
If I'm to put advisement in the footer, how many banner rotation should I put?
If you mean banner rotation like what Forum Promotion has under the navigation bar, I suppose there really is no limitation needed as it refreshes with every click. With advertisements, as someone who does not use any blocker on my browser, I wish the space for it will not be too big or the banners are too big that it distracts attention from the forum. Especially because the colors of the forum are not too bright compared to the banners later. With footers, usually affiliate buttons or links work best, since they are small and can easily fit the little space there. (Let me know if I understand your question the wrong way.)
In-game Promotion or Social Promotion is better for a Gaming Forums?
I assume that you wanted an opinion about how you should advertise the forum. Unfortunately I cannot really imagine what an 'in-game promotion' means. For forums related to gaming, I feel that it would be best to gather interest by contacting fellow gamers who may be interested in taking one new experience: discussing the games you are playing. It is not for everyone, I can understand. I believe some online games need interactions between the players related to items or quests; it can be an exploitable part for the target audience. That is probably considered as 'social promotion'. (Once again, let me know if I understand your question the wrong way.)
