I am wanting to buy some domains that have reasonable amount of traffic and reasonable PR to so I can then forward the domains to my own websites in order to get more visitors that may sign up. I have a few questions though, could someone or more than one persona please reply if you can answer any or all of them. Thanks!

  • 1).. Will doing this benefit me?
  • 2).. Will Google and other search engines penilize me for this?
  • 3).. Will the uniques on the domains I buy decrease quickly as it will only be a redirect?
  • 4).. I any domain I by be transferred to my 123-Reg account? or can I only buy domains registered with them?

Do you actually want to do this? Personally I don't see any benefits for you buy a domain with some PR (which costs more for sure) and I am not sure if anyone will stay, more than 3 seconds after entering a website which is being redirected to any next website. Very less people will enter the site directly and google will soon remove the site from its search results in sometime whatever be its PR.

Its not really the PR im looking to gain more of from the domains I buy, but I thought it would help as, lets say for my SEO Website, If I buy a couple of domains with a few thousand unique visitors per month (SEO / Promotion Related Domains), then I have them redirect to my website, will this not then give my website those 1000 or so uniques per month?

My thinking behind it was, ..
If someone is looking for a SEO website to buy services from and they google a SEO related search term, they are givin a domain in the results (a domain I just bought), they click it, but it takes them to my website, the visitor might still stay and use my website as it offers the same thing as they want 😛

Am I all wrong?
😛

That seems logic but my suggestion is this:

The domain you buy with the website attached to it should still be present.

So a visitor who searches on google finds that site, clicks it, page loads.

Page has loaded, x seconds later visitor is redirected to your own SEO site.

This way google will still see a site and not remove it from the search results for not being anymore relevant to the keyword that was searched for.

Never tried this but this seems to be a solid tactic instead of having just a domain redirect with no website to it. Although that may work out to for a while... While my idea may work out for a lot longer.

Yeah, I see your point, so search engines still find the content of the website with the domain which will help it keep its positions for longer. Doing this with several domains keeping their websites attached would be a lot more costly though I would imagine as then hosting costs would rise quite a bit 😛

Redirected domain may cause penalization as per search engine results are concerned.

If the link has no relation to your site, I would not make it a redirect, as this may be seen as spam..

It would e relevant 😛 For example, buying a domain (and with website maybe) that is another gaming and even xbox gaming website / forum and redirecting it to my forum XboxLiveFan.org 😛

You should be okay than..

I personally wouldn't bother doing it unless the domain had insane amounts of traffic, but that's just me.
