I have always been really curious how post 2 hosts with no paid packages make money? I can not imagine that the advertisements that they slap up there cover the costs of the site, let alone make a profit? Can any one shed some light on this for me?

Well, obviously, it's coming from the owner's pocket... and, I know, since I have a personal one, that it only costs about $100 to set up an entire 2 TB web server in your own home. It also only would cost about $150 for the cPanel.... so... if he has $350 lying around and wants tons of forum posts, that's how to do it.

Yeah! And as far as i know, Cpanel isn't one time payment. So, you need to invest periodically for Cpanel, internet connection, etc.

And as MrJohn said, rare people have their own server. Most just using a dedicated hosting to do those stuffs.

Most sites either have:
A. Ads
B. Paid % for selling paid hosting on there server(resell hosting)
C. They are just people who get there stuff free to.

Just out of curoisty, what host do you know of that provides only post 2 hosts.

There are quite a few of them that I have seen around the net that do not provide any paid packages at all. I can get you a list if you would like, but all you have to do is search around and you will see what I am talking about.

Tikolah is p2h only.

Most p2h run until they can't afford it anymore and donations stop. Unless they get a free server somewhere.

You know, I've used post 2 host sites before for my forums in the past, and I've actually wondered the same thing. Because you're paying your monthly bill with the amount of posts you make, you're not paying through PayPal or a similar method. I never really did understand how such sites worked... about all I knew was that you paid off your hosting bill by posting so much at a time on the support forum. That's all I knew.
