Your Quick Review
Forum Pros:
You've got a very stylish banner, with good images references to both Guitar Hero, and the different systems it's available on. The one thing that would make it look even better, if you could get a graphics maker to remove the guitar behind the game boxes, and actually place it on the shelf above the games, if that's possible.
The skin design is very good, and I'm really digging the colors used for it. But it's common for most forums on this software, as I've seen it many times. Nothing wrong with that, but when using a common skin, it's good to make it as unique to your forum theme as possible.
Forum Cons:
You need to get some custom board icons. Folders and notebooks are really unattractive, and just scream that it's a default icon. Maybe use the GH logo. Actually, what would look even better, are guitar pics. Different colored guitar pics, like black for Old posts, and white for New posts.
The board layout has some issues. Having a guest board, is unattractive. It's helpful, but unecessary to have on the homepage. I think you should have all suggestions, feedback and questions used in that section; and make a board for "guests questions". It'll be clearly outlined on the index page, but not a board listed on the index page. Which will be much better looking, and your introduction board exactly where it belongs, once you move it to the bottpom of this category. Forum news, and forum suggestions, are both site related; so they should be close to one another; and introductions will be clearly seen as the 3rd, and last board of the section.
I also notice you have the game split up into different systems. This may not be necessary. All the same games are usually available on the same system, and you already have an "All System Tournaments" section. Which can have a sub-board for challenges, and can also be used as a Friend Code/Gamertag/ID exchanging section.
Another thing to point out, Is GH discussion, should come before the online play category. Members will usually talk about GH; before they get ready to go online and play against other members.
Final/General Thoughts:
It's got a real great look, though as noted, seems like a default template with default icons. The forum is new, of course, but, you did ask for suggestions. So, nothing wrong with the skin, just what came with it. GH's been out for awhile, and keeps bringing in new fans with each new game. So, you've got a good theme to get a great forum started from.

I really do like the colors of the skin. Some of the best matching colors, and best use I've seen for sometime.

I'm picky, but the forum icons definitely are an eyesore. They really do make the rest of the index page look default of a skin. Once those extra touchups are made, it'll have a completely fresh look, trust me.
