The Theme
When I first loaded your forum, I was actually kind of confused. My first thought was, "Is this supposed to be a live theme?". Starting from the top, your logo isn't transparent, thus not blending with the background. It also has a visible border around it, why? Another thing that had me lost was the fact you have playing cards on both sides of the banner, which really had me confused. Below that, I see a hogwash of colors around the overall theme. Beginning with the background, what is it and why is it brown? If I can be honest, it's very unsightly and has no reason for being there. The "theads" being blue is horrendous and clashes with the unsightly background, they're not even complementary colors. Moving further, having each section of the "forumbit" being divided like they are making the forum look very unsightly. Going down even more, we see the universal forum sections I would expect, the statistics and footer. I was quite displeased about the footer, and how it looks. It looks very cheaply done and looks incomplete. Having black text on against that background makes things hard to read and looks odd. Overall, you need to work on your theme. If I may be sincere, the theme is appalling and it appears as it is thrown together just to open the forum.
Forum Layout
One thing I was pleased to see was in your name, ReferralDirectory. Something different and refreshing in the webmaster world. However, I quickly discovered that it's just another webmaster forum hoping to be the next best thing. While it contradicts your name, you're just a webmaster forum. The forums you have are very reminiscent of every other webmaster forum that has ever existed and brings nothing new to the table. You have no kind of forum that would warrant content that matches your name, something dealing with referrals? The layout of the actual categories/forums is very confusing and the "VIP Only Forums" is visible to guests, why? Overall, I sense an identity crisis and wanting some of the market share of other similar niche sites. However, with what you have here, you are a long ways from that.
Final Remarks:
You will notice I omitted the strengths section of this review, and I did it knowingly. After looking over the site for 10 minutes, much longer than any guest mind you, I found nothing good to say about it. I don't like being too harsh with my reviews, but I really didn't have anything nice to say about ReferralDirectory and I feel it shouldn't be open to the public just yet. You have a lot of work to be done here to be open and allowing registrations. You have a very incomplete community here and it shows.
