Quifoo Webmaster Blog suggestions & tips?

I know it's not related to the blog itself, but what experience do you have in this feild? If you are making a webmaster / admin blog I would expect you to know what you're talking about. For example, you have an article on how to create a successful blog, but judging on the age of your blog and its content, I doubt you actually have one.

"have one"? Have one of what? A successful blog? I wouldn't say my blog is unsuccessful..

I would define a successful blog as one that makes several dollars a day. Like this 1000 dollar adsense checks. Your blog is less than a month or two old, saying that something that has just started is "successful" is usually inaccurate. Your blog ranks at almost 0 compared to many of the giant blogs on the internet. This is not a reason why you can't try to go up there, but how can you write about how to make a successful blog when you don't make thousands of dollars a month through adsense?

My blog is on the verge of becoming successful, you don't really have any room to say how much my blog makes..you actually have no idea..at all..

If your making a $1000 a month like Cosmic pointed out, then you must be one hell of a marketer. Other than that. Im enjoying the new theme, but the blog is still loading sluggish.

I never once said how much I am making. Somehow Cosmic is saying things..that I never said.
Whatever, I asked for comments and suggestions, not arguments. And telling me an article was bad isn't a suggestions.

Understandable, as I hate false accusations myself. Anyhoo, maybe install a cache plugin to improve speed a tad?

The one Im using on my Webmaster Blog is called wp-cache. It works wonder's, saves bandwidth also.

Then I suggest you write better articles.

Well, my suggestion here is that you make sure you acknowledge your actual experience level. I never even pretend to be some sort of serious webmaster and I doubt very many people on this forum actually are (if you happened to ask a professional webmaster who did it as a job). My point is that if you write an article then you either cite your own experience or other articles. As you made no citation, I can only assume that it is from your own experience. As your blog is not very large at this point in time, it just seems that you are not making these points from a very advantaged view point. This is only one example though.

My question is "what credentials do you have that make you a credible writer in this field?" You can not write articles on something you are not experience with. Thus, is it possible you could tell us any credentials you have in this field? My suggestion is this: put visible credentials of your credibility on your blog. This could be a very impressive custom skin, some text on the homepage, a separate credentials page, or even a custom coded blog software. If you can go outside the box and prove to people that you know what you're talking about, people will read your posts for advice, not just to pass to time.

Okay so you expect me to put: How to create a mediocre blog?

I write my articles from my heart and what I believe. I take every one of those steps I wrote about and what does it takes? TIME. Over time my blog has got better and better, and you can ask that to everyone on FP and they'll agree. It takes time. I don't really give a damn about experience levels..I write what I believe. Who would write these types of articles?

How to become decent in marketing a domain?
Create an O.K. graphic!
etc...

That makes utterly no sense. I learn blogging skills from other blogs, and then I share what I think. My articles are pretty damn good.

I'm not saying that you should modify your articles in such a way, I am suggesting that you just not talk about anything that you are inexperienced in. As a reader rather than a writer, I care more about credentials than a writer, naturally, would. So, if you suck at graphics designing, why teach others? If you have never made a big blog, who are you to give instructions on making blogs? It's okay to do research to find our what others think, but my point is, just make sure that you know what you're talking about. I will revoke any criticism I have made of you if you just provide me with any reason to believe you are a serious webmaster. Heck, I will read your blog if you prove me this.

I am giving you advice which can prevent you from making a big fool out of yourself and help you gather a wide following. I'm trying to help, not blindly criticize you.

I never said anything about a big blog. I said about a successful blog, and I would say my blog is successful in my opinion.

Then, if you believe that a small and non-money making blog is successful, your article on how to make a successful blog is next to meaningless.

Since when does a comment/suggestion topic turn into some debate flame? Oops, nevermind... that happens all the time (mostly in Community Matters.) Flames seem to become wildfires here on the forum lately.

Anyway, Volux, I really like Quifoo. It has a great design, and it's very popular, as well. There's nothing negative that I see from my perspective. Great job!

Cosmic, there are points where opinions are not meant to be made. What does it matter if this guy's blog is successful or not? What does it matter if he's a real webmaster? The way I see it, if you can AT LEAST make text bold with HTML, then you're a newbie webmaster/web designer; you're learning. If you ask me, the articles on Quifoo actually seem very persuasive and informative on webmastering. I personally like the articles- they're not idealistic like many other articles.

@Cosmic - See Rok's comment? This is why I feel I have a successful blog. People see successful in different terms. Obviously you have very high standards unlike me. And if you so much believe it was a meaningless article..how come I get so many great comments on that specific one?

@Rok - Thanks a bunch! Yes..these things become arguments. Sometimes people try to help..sometimes they are annoying dumb@$$3$.

@Rokalyptica: Do you know what "flaming" really means? It does not mean disagreement, rather, personal insults. If I told said person he was an "ignoramus who was wasting his already pointless time by writing a dumb pointless misinformed blog", then I would be flaming. I can take "stubborn", but there is no flaming on either side here. 😕

@Volux: I agree, we have very different standards..

I would try improving the logo. You should make it a little more noticeable. It currently blends in with the rest of the site.
