When I was playing a game earlier, I suddenly came to a realization: I wasn't having fun, and I haven't had fun playing a game for a very long time. After I came to that realization, I exited the game and uninstalled all my Steam games and removed Steam from my computer. I guess that I've been feeling this way for a while, but today I guess it just sunk in.

I think that I've been playing games out of boredom and habit rather than a desire to have fun. Gaming has been one of my main hobbies for over twenty years, and somewhere along the way, I stopped having fun playing games. I think the main reason for this is that I always compare modern games to games that I played when I was a kid, and they simply cannot compare. I'm not sure if it's because games have changed, because I've changed, or some combination of the two. In any case, I'm quitting video games for the time being. I will definitely go back to it at some point, but I need a break.

Have you ever had an experience like this?

it's an person choice but come on why? lets play

How can someone not have fun playing games?
I mean if you play with friends and family maybe then it will be fun.

I used to play video games all the time! I think when high school started I began being more mature for my age and kinda grew out of it. I do play Pokemon once in a great while like twice a week. I got Pokemon Moon and still have 6 z crystals after getting the game since December. Shows how much I play video games. I will always be a video gamer at heart, but I mainly focus on computer stuff and working with websites.

I sometimes have my 'on' and 'off' periods too. However, there are still games that I would play from time-to-time. If you still sort of want to play games, but don't know want to do, try something creative, for example, you could create your own stories, custom content, participate in challenges. In any case, I have realised that gaming should not be your one and only (or even main hobby). You should always have something else.

I almost personally considered quitting video games a long time ago, but that was due to the fact I always played single-player games. Once I got into MMOs, multiplayer type of games and becoming socialize and meeting new people that changed everything. The lack of interest is mostly due to the lack of communication or socializing with new individuals.

Once I am able to stream when I have a better ISP. I plan to do it all the time and socialize with different individuals because it is great. Socializing with people makes gaming x1000 better.

I stopped playing games 6 years back. You dont know how much good things you left back in your life all in the name of games 😀

I wish I can get back into gaming, It's been so long

Being honest some times game are not what they used to be: some newer one can make you grind to get to the next level.

Some games, I end up quitting, but I haven't ever considered giving video games all together. Because I still talk to friends on there and socializing is an important part of life.

Yeah I stopped playing Just Cause 3 because the game was buggy as for me.

That is another reason why I quit the games. Did you play it again, when the glitches were patched?

When the last DLC came out I didn't even bother wasting my data with checking to see if it was any good. Reports on the forums was enough that it wasn't worth it. I did like some things that they done but they went backward in many ways.

Never played it, so I can't really say.

I suggest you to play multiplayer games, they are more fun. But if you are playing for so long, then i guess you already know that. I really love playing video games and its the most fun thing do in my life but sadly i don't get much time to play. 🙁

You talk about video games like someone who is falling out of love with their girlfriend/boyfriend and is contemplating breaking up with them 😛

You do not need to worry so much about that. A lot of people do not play video games and they still live OK. They have another funny habits and you also can choose some without video games. You can go outside and play with your friends, go shooping, make money online, travel and discover everything. Just remember: do the thing you want and like, do the things that can make you feel comfortable! 🙂

I can see your point of view. I much rather spend time on here chatting or out with friends than play a game...

I guess that is part of growing up, and if you lay in bed thinking I could have done this than play a game for 9 hours straight then gaming is coming to an end. I agree that you can't just cut games out altogether as sometimes you need that boredom buster.
