Its a "Mini Rex" breed. This breed has VERY soft fur.

The main feature of Rex rabbits is their lustrous appearing fur that has a springy feel when depressed. The fur has earned the Mini Rex the name "velveteen rabbit."

I think thats why people are constantly petting it. Our last one didnt get as much attention.. It was a neatherland dwarf which has normal hair I guess.
