No. absolutely not. If you want to go out and scream that muslims are terrorists, that the black people are taking over the world, that martin luther king was a terrorist and traitor, you can go right ahead.

I do believe that racism should be fully legal. Discrimination, however, should not be legal because that is when freedom of speech/expression infringes upon the rights of others. If you're posting on a blog or screaming in public that all blacks/Jews/Muslims should be burned or something, then whatever. As long as you're not actually making plans to go out and burn a bunch of blacks/Jews/Muslims, then it's okay. However, if you refuse to hire someone simply because he/she is black, Jewish, Muslim, et cetera, then you're infringing upon that person's right to be employed. That's the only acceptable limitation of freedom of expression in my opinion.
No, racism should not be illegal. Hate crimes should be (are) illegal, and that's what everyone is saying about discrimination. It's when racism becomes more than an opinion and turns into an action (like the KKK) that things become illegal.

Easy. I can make a positive racist and stereotypical statement: Black people are good at basketball. There is no slander in that, and the racism is positive, as well as the stereotyping. It may not necessarily be true, but it certainly has no intention of slander or negativity.Sayf Udeen said:

Also, slander is a lie aimed at one particular person personally. If you make racist statements, then it's about a group; thus, you're not targeting one particular person. Most sensible people aren't going to believe you if you say that all Muslims are terrorists who are going to nuke the entire USA anyway. They also won't believe that Latinos "Mexicans" have some secret plan to take over the United States so that they can use our welfare state (despite the fact that most of them pay taxes, but that's a different story for a different time).

I don't think racism should be illegal Because it's all in how you perceive it. Because me & my friends joke about racism with each other all the time, but we don't perceive it in a derogatory way, therefore no one is hurt. I don't believe it should be illegal because I strongly believe in freedom of speech; I have the right to say wheat I want, when I want, to whoever I want without taking any crap from anybody.
