Hello, I'm sure some of you know who I am, I have been on this forum since it opened.

Anyways, hear it is, I have been thinking about joining the RAF Regiment I have looked in to it loads and it all seems like something I would like to do, I still feel stuck as to whether to go for it or not.

It does have its risks I know, and I don't know why I can't decide, please tell me what you think.

Thanks.

You're not at that much risk in the RAF, especially in peace time ( we're not at war against any nations, just fighting Bush's and Blairs war in Iraq ).

I'm not sure how it is over there, but in the US Air Force the treatment is great, everyone gets along, and it looks great on your record.

The job of the RAF Regiment (gunners) job is to protect the air base and everyone in it, its not as much risk and army infantry.

I dont know i think you need to think about it more, look up on it more etc.

Also i recommend doing something like Public Services, this is the course i am taking this year and its for things like emergency services and the armed forces. Now i want to be a copper, but the army does seem appealing.

Thanks for your feedback, I may consider doing public services..

Check that your college does it first, but it looks good. From what i have seen first you do lots of outdoor activities e.g. Abseiling, quad biking, horse riding, canoeing etc. Then the second year its all academic.

Also you go off and do things with the army, so you spend a week and a base and you train with them etc. And i think and one point (for us anyways) we have the marines come down and do a training session with us.

Go for it!! my stepdad was in the RAF and he loved it. He used to be a technition for the Tornado planes
