I have run a raffle on a few of my sites as a promotion with a prize consisting either of an item or a gift card from Amazon. Normally the prize would be worth around $50 US but I am really disappointed at the poor response I get from these raffles.

Basically the raffle tickets can be purchased using forum points just to also get a bit of interaction from those wanting to enter. Normally the points are earned just by posting up content and from likes received from other members. Most members normally pass the required points cost for a raffle ticket within a day or so and we make it so an unlimited number of tickets can be purchased using your forum points.

However even those members with a large amount of forum points just don't seem to show any interest in the raffle at all :hushed: So this leads me to believe that a $50 US raffle prize does not seem to be large enough to draw any type of interest. So now what would be considered to be an amount that might draw some interest from current members and possible new members?

Sounds a bit similar to what I run on my forum.

I don't think the amount is the issue. How many tickets are usually purchased per period? I also don't see a block or anything advertising the raffle, so a lot of it sounds like it's just not getting the exposure needed.

On my forum, we have a monthly $50 raffle, but there are two drawings each month, with each ticket worth $25. Members earn tickets through various contributions, similar to how it sounds like points are earned on your forum, except our currency is always tickets. The tickets can be traded between members just like other currency, but at the end of the month they count towards the drawing, and all earnings are cleared. We have a block on the index with all the pertinent information, which includes a breakdown of earnings, the various methods of earning tickets, a Hall of Fame, and an apparent showcase of the previous month's winners. This way, the tickets have a very broad function, and winning feels more significant than simply getting a prize.

Well I wanted to have more promotional raffles but with the poor response I had to this one I am thinking that the money could rather be spent on other things to further promote the forum.
