Ranks

Do you have Ranks, Member Groups on your forum? I know it’s a personal preference for forums. My Proboards forum had a Default system but I wanted to customize it. I asked my husband for some ideas & since I'm into astronomy, he helped me create Ranks that reflect that. Starting with Stargazer. I edited the number of posts for some & added in higher numbers. Hopefully I'll be able to implement them 🙂
So, what are your Ranks? How did you come up with the ideas?

I try to do this.

I try to make it creative based on the niche of the forum. My weather-related forum for example uses weather-related ranks.

My upcoming cycling forum and my outdoor forum also does this.

My webmaster forum is a hard niche to do that with.

I used to do this when I first started out with forums but after a while, I just stopped using it and just had things like Admin, Moderator, VIP, Member, and such user groups. It is nice though to see different user ranks which go by your activity on the forum, some people have some really awesome ones that they use. I am debating on whether to have this on the forum I am getting ready to open at the moment or whether to just use the user groups.

Just a simple members group with names that people are aware of. Like other than admin, it's founder and it goes down from there. With VIP group names. I never really changed the group's names. Other than group names we also have ranking 🙂 based on content count and awards based. ever since IPB added that new system I Have not even changed the names or images LOL

I've got a really nice rank image set that I found and I'm definitely giving myself and @PGen98 the 'mystical creature' rank whenever I start a forum.

I think I got a lot of inspiration from a thread I saw on TAZ a long time ago.
