One of my pet peeves are staff members who act unprofessionally on open forum, openly complaining, griping and talking about private staff/internal matters . Or, they gang up with another forum member to bash other staffers, even critisizing forum management. I just don't think it's professional and it creates a hostile environment, creating drama on forum. And, I think it scares away good members who just want a nice place to hang out and relax and enjoy friendly company. And, I know these people are just looking for a fight, hoping someone will say something so they can get an all out war started.

If it's my forum, then I can do something about it. But, if I'm just one of the staff members, not lead admin in charge of firing staff, then it's a major annoyance. I just don't see why some forum staffers are so unprofessional they would think it's ok to talk about private staff matters publicly, especially if the things they are talking about would embarrass the forum owner or damage the forum's reputation.

Maybe this is just something that bothers me. But it feels like a really big deal, so I wanted to share it.

I agree, I absolutely hate it. If I can stop it I will, if I can't I just report it to my team leader or an Administrator. 😛

Personally, if I saw people divulging confidential information (anything staff related is considered that on my forums) then, I would strongly consider firing them outright, if not demoting them.

If it's not one of my forums then, I would have a nice conversation with whoever is incharge unless, I'm just an ordinary member which in that case.. I would leave the forums.
Sometimes, you have to be strict when it comes to certain things and if you make it clear that staff matters are not public business then, they shouldn't be doing it.

If it's on a staff forum and they are just ranting about people, I let it be. Everyone should be able to rant on how they don't like a member, etc. However if it's in a public setting, I will remove the post and the staff member, because they should not be ranting about someone in a public setting. It would be like the President ranting about another nation in the public eye, it's just stupid.

And my staff boards are confidential, information posted, unless otherwise stated, should never leave the staff board. I'm pretty strict about those things, even with my other admins. 😛
