Don't take this the wrong way...but did AI write it?

One thing for me when I join new forums is that I don't want to read a lengthy welcome, whether it's by PM or as an announcement. So if I were to make changes, I'd remove the things that weren't as important for your members to read... And I'm not saying it's poor writing, I'm just saying I wouldn't read it all.

Just thinking and wondering so don't take this the wrong way I'm just curious. If you can't be bothered to read a short welcoming paragraph, does that mean you also don't read forum descriptions if they are longer? If the first post of a topic is long, does it disuade your interest? What is the reasoning behind this? Or is it just confined to the first welcoming message? I agree with you though, there is such a thing as too long and it's something I've been trying to cut down.

I rarely read forum descriptions, tbh. I'll read the title, but usually the title SHOULD be self-explanatory. I'll only read the description if I'm a little confused on where to put a thread and want to be sure I get it in the right place.

If the OP is lengthy, I probably won't read it unless it's something of sincere interest to me. If it's AI created (and those are lengthy), I absolutely refuse to waste my time reading superfluous words.

Now for the reason...I visit quite a few forums daily and I try to post on others when I can. I want to get things done quickly and efficiently and I'm a homemaker, so I have more time than a lot of other members who work full-time jobs. So, if I'm stressed for time, they're even more stressed for time, so think of who your customer base is and their needs.
