Looking to build a new PC can anyone recommend a good build?

I did want a AMD one but I feel Intel is a lot better.

Please help a brother out with the right components.

Thanks in advance!

Intel is allot better. What's your budget? And what would you need it for?

Around about 650 pounds and I was looking at the gtx 1060, 6gb version for gaming. Don't really wanna play in ultra but normal settings.
With that low budget you be looking at an AMD to an mid range intel i5

So here is what you be looking at
  • Core i5-6400 2.70GHz
  • Asus Prime Z270-P Intel Z270
  • 8GB Ram
  • GTX1060
  • Phanteks pro M Midi Tower Case with Window
  • 1TB or maybe 2TB HDD
  • Windows 10 64 Bit
How big you want the desktop mini ATI or just the size I just mention above. That should cost around £700

Thanks @Empire helped me right out here.

I'm looking for a decent mother board most probably a ATX, not really fan of a micro ATX.

Is the mother board good for this build?

I might actually go with that board to be honest feels like it would be better than the other one.
It does offer little bit more then the other board and it's an gaming board with good higher reviews and better act fast as it's £119 down to £86.98

I would caution against brand loyalty when coming up with a computer build. Personally, I do prefer Intel CPUs (as I've usually had a good experience with them), but do note that AMD is now a competitor that is actually surpassing Intel in various benchmarks. The company has been working wonders with Ryzen.

My friend recently published an article on Ryzen that I've linked for a comparison with Intel competitors (https://compushelter.com/hardware/p...readripper-now-available-pre-order/2017/07/31).

I can't be sure about the UK, but from markets here in the U.S, you can get better performance for your money with most Ryzen CPUs.

What is the purpose of this new desktop? And what type of applications will you be running on it?

Thanks for your input Rick! I'm very grateful! After I post this I will read that article you provided.

I'm looking to do some gaming recording and editing with also the use of a photoshop for my art work that I will be doing with my graphic monitor.

From what I know intel is better at rendering than AMD.

Hello Vaador,

I am that friend that @Rick Ace was talking about. Nice to meet you. 🙂

AMD's previous architectures were inferior to Intel's offerings, however Zen is a completely different story. What AMD is offering with Ryzen, is the ability to obtain more cores for each sector of Intel's market segmentation, while maintaining or beating Intel's price point and not sacrificing on performance. You'll also benefit from Ryzen if you're streaming, versus a Core i7 with the same number of cores.

From the requirements that you list, I am confident that a Ryzen six-core, or Ryzen eight-core will be the better option for you. Two models that I would suggest in-particular of your situation, are the Ryzen 5 1600, and Ryzen 7 1700.

Also, I feel it worth mentioning that the LGA1151 socket has now reached its 'end-of-life' status, and will no longer be receiving new processors.

@DylRicho Remember to keep it low price and LGA1151 won't go anytime soon, you still be looking another year or two.

Regards to Ryzen 5 1600, comparing it to the Core i5-7600K isn't much in it. Just that the Ryzen offers more threads and cores and yet i5 offers up to 3.8GHz. Unless you go with Ryzen 7 1700 or and high i5/i7 but that's when the costs goes up to £300

LOOK, I got my desktop five years ago with an 2011 socket, about 15 to 16 months later they stopped 2011. all new things that come out will end. Also when buying that if you get the right gear and look after your gear it will last. My desktop was built 5 years ago and till this day it runs high settings. My CPU did cost over $400
