I've just gotten back into 24 as it's on Disney+ - I'm a big big fan of this show, but re-watching it through for I believe the 3rd time? I am finding plot holes and things that I just find a bit on the stupid side, stuff they could have done better. Back into Season 3 at the moment. Still enjoying it mind!
But it got me thinking.
Do you ever find yourself watching stuff again and being more critical of it?
Oh yes, I've done that. I tend to nitpick & find things I didn't even notice the first time around. Then I find myself not so much re-watching it but seeing if I can find even more mistakes.
The majority of people I know find it odd that I can watch a film multiple times and still get enjoyment out of it. To me it's no different to music, if I enjoy something I'll watch or listen to it multiple times.
I often see plot holes the first time around so with subsequent viewings I'm looking for the more subtle things that might contribute to make a film great in my eyes. '12 Angry Men' made in the 1950's is a great example of this, a very simple film that becomes more powerful on subsequent viewings.
I'm 35 and sometimes I miss watching the things I grew up with. There will be a movie I hadn't watched since I was 15 or younger. But I notice things in the film that I didn't before. Some of those movies I can't sit through any more because I no longer like them due to the plot holes and bad acting.
