So the time has arise for me to go back to paid hosting and such, this was a decision my team has made over the course of a few weeks, but we're still looking for the best/most reliable host that can fit our needs.

What webhosting provider do you use? How is the support, uptime? backups? etc?

We plan on running Xenforo and updating to 2.0 at a later date.

US based hosts please.

The main thing I see as causing problems with hosts is DDOS attacks. One hosting company was down for a whole month cause of them.

I was previously with Hawkhost, they offered me quite the deal so I decided to give them another shot. So far it's been smooth. 🙂 Will keep these others in mind if needed. 🙂

I'm a satisfied Bluehost customer, so I would highly recommend them... And I'm also an affiliate, lol... But one thing for sure, Bluehost has 24/7 expert support professionals that would be happy to assist you... they look friendly 🙂 I haven't tried talking with them because most of those information you would need is already in their knowledgebase... check it out! Bluehost!

I wouldn’t recommend bluehost, as they are owned and operated by EIG.
What's wrong with EIG?

- Slow servers.
- Incompetent techs and admins.
- Non-responsiveness to tickets for hours or even days.
- Billing problems.
- Excessive downtime.
- Sites easily hacked (likely server-side), but customers always blamed.
- Lots of spam, lots of warez/junk sites, and reports ignored.

Imagine everything bad that you can (regarding hosting). Then understand that this company does all of that. There's a reason they pose as being 60 different brands, instead of proudly displaying "owned by EIG" on each of their sites. (Hint: It's probably not an accident or an oversight.)

Hmm. I haven't heard about security issues from BlueHost. Although, I've heard of support issues before.

One explanation might be that BlueHost has a lot of clients, and that makes them more of a target for attacks on security.
