What do you think about the exchange register for a register?

On the one hand, it will make the forum look more popular. But on the other hand, it's kind of pointless to have... say 100 members when only 5 of them have any posts.

What are your thoughts on register for register? Do you do it?

I don't do it, I just think it's pointless to have members who never post ever at least once, it just takes up space and it's pointless to have members if they never contributed to the forum. Plus, it may discourage members from joining if most of the members don't post, it may be seen as fake

I don't like them and I won't willingly participate in one. (Though if someone agrees to do post exchange with me, and we both register on each other's site but they never post then I might make one or two posts. More or less just to say that I put in some effort and they didn't. )

I won't even consider less than a 10/10 exchange. I just don't find them worth the effort to register and make less than 10 posts. I mean for some people doing post exchanges that's like 20 minutes and they're moving on with even a 10/10.

What are the changes of doing this and getting good results?

register for register is just a waste,
you already stated why its stupid, so many members but they don't post anything

you should look into post exchanges at the least

I also don't think it is actually useful, unless for forums which want to balance number of posts per member, LOL~ It would have been much better to have a small but active forum, seriously.

I agree that post exchanges, even small ones, are more effective. There are risks for every deal, but at least it has better prospect, especially if the exchange is done regularly.

If there's no posts, then the users are useless. You're just bumping your stats, but anyone who knows their stuff will be able to see past the member count. 😱

That's kind of ridiculous as it just boosts your member count, which on the other count doesn't even matter in the first place considering that your forum is still just as active as it was but just a useless account that will probably not make any posts, but if the person does it probably won't be much, anyway. It's a small thing to do and could possibly even make your forum look even worse due to the little activity compared to such a high member count.

I only do this when I haven't had a new member for weeks.

I don't think having dozens of members on your forum with 0 posts is anywhere near attractive statistics wise. I would at least think about a 5/5 post exchange first. 🙂
