I don't agree with all of President Trump's Executive Directives he signed yesterday, and one that I don't understand is renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. I mean, why?

I think he's just a narcissist and wants to rename things because he thinks it sounds cool. He also obviously has it out for Mexico, but honestly there's so much drug crime there so I can't really blame him for not liking what Mexico has caused with the cartel and all.
Mexico will be the 51ST state soon. I jest of course. The drug cartels have plagued America for years. Everyone know how the dope is getting here. No one has the balls to do anything about it. Enter Trump. You can keep him at his word on securing the border, stopping the drug cartels and drilling for oil.
Narcissists are going to narcissist. It's got to be about him keeping his name in the public eye, no matter the stupidity of what it is a result of.

An example of why - in July 2023 16.5 million pedestrians, passenger vehicles, and cargo trucks along the southern border were inspected. It is actually harder to traffic the product in the "unprotected" areas... because of terrain and the fact that they actually are monitored.
How about addressing the real issue.... the users of those products. Demand goes down and the product imported will decrease as nobody is buying it.
As for "drilling for oil".... we were producing in the last 4 years more domestic product than any time during the previous Trump administration. How did that work for driving gas prices down?
Even if we did merge with Canada, why would Canada just be one state? I don't get it.

Ah, yes. That absolutely justifies for the man it when it has absolutely nothing to do with the name change.
Overall, as cringe as it sounds to me, US can do anything for their shores just like Mexico can continue to call it whatever they want on their side of the ma, and so can the world. As for why? MAGA, just like the ideas of expansionism and other names changes.
