Just wondering if you rent where you live or do you own a Condo or House? Which one do think is best? I live in a rental apartment building. A Condo has maintenance fee's, a house, property taxes but in a rental you're not investing in something you own. Which do you think is best?
I rent a 2 bedroom duplex. Its a good size and the rent is cheap for the area. The landlord pays the water/sewage/garbage bills so that saves me a little money. I just have to pay the gas & electric which isnt too expensive (compared to what a family in a big house pays). I dont have to pay property taxes or anything like that either. If anything breaks I just call the maintenance man & comes to fix it at no cost to me. So there is some perks to renting, however I would like to have a house that was all mine & I owned it but I dont think I would be able to afford all the costs that goes along with it unless I got married to someone with a job. 2 income's are better than one.
I think by far owning a property is the best way to go. Or, if I'm going to add a no brainer in, owning multiple properties would be ideal.
It's just a matter of getting the security together while paying rent.
Right now, my wife and I rent a three bedroom house - all bedrooms are being used but I swear I could easily survive in a smaller place in a better area (this one is pretty rough)
I rent a one bedroom bungaloo from the local council
Rent is cheap
gas & electric are not to high
The council cut the grass at the front of the house which is good
Having a council house means no maintenance to worry about any problems I just pick up the phone 24/7 all year round
