One thing that happens on sites that offer a site credit (For us it's FP$), and sometimes that could lead to having inflation on the site. An idea that was floated around but didn't happen was to reset all site credits every year.

What do you think of that? Would you ever attempt to try it?

Well, it can upset so many people who spend money on those credits and whatnot if not more. It's a risk. Aren't to bad if members have not got allot or didn't care or even that site isn't that old, but 10 years of worth of credits Ochhhhhhh

Doesn’t seem fair, people work hard to earn those credits and are proud of their number. Taking it away is a good way to lower morale and potentially make people want to leave.

This is a concept we have discussed before. Never pulled the trigger on it for the reasons @Nebulous mentioned above. I definitely see the pros though, and so long as everyone is aware that the reset will happen and they are prepared (spending what they’ve got), I guess it can be okay.

This is certainly a major issue with forum credits. Heavy users that are most likely to be engaging with forum stores are often overwhelmed with credits and they provide no incentive for those users, but removing their credits is not going to keep members happy for very long. I don't really have an answer to give here, but it is probably safe to say that changing the current system is going to cause more issues than whatever that system started as.

Both ends, It's HARD right... 😛

What would happen to people who had just joined the forum and had earned their way into getting their credits, only to be met with a wipe?

I think there are better ways to manage inflation and should definitely just add some worthwhile sinks into the system.

There will definitely be people who will just sit on it though. I use to be the richest person on FP before I donated it all away. Wasn't using it xD

It's a bad idea and doesn't sound fair at all. There are definitely better ways to manage inflation without potentially upsetting a lot of people.

People could lose all their earnings for one year and many people may leave the community which is not a good reputation for your website. Instead of this you may reduce reward system instead.

I would be extremely angry at the forum owner if then tried something like this with my account especially when I worked hard for those credits. Unless it's written in the terms of service and I agreed to it, then I don't have any choice in the matter.

But what happens when a member purchased those credits?

They end up lossing that amount
Now, who got cheated in the whole process? It's the member who paid with his real money for those credits. He's entitled to own them until he wanta to give them up.
