Responding to threads

As staff or a owner of different forums you may be on, how quickly do you normally reply to threads? I know if there isn't much general activity to begin with, one could think a delay in responding to new threads wouldn't matter, but in the long run, it can be detrimental to a forum if replies to stuff isn't put up quickly or in a timely manner.

Usually I try to respond fast. Some times I do, and other times I take a while to respond. Depends how much I’m on.

Do you mean questions asked of staff or about the forum? Or just threads in general?

I try to reply within 24 hours to things asked of staff and I think that's sufficient enough.

As for general threads I used to reply to every single thread that was started when we first began the forum but now I want other names to be seen when you look at the site instead of just mine all over the place. So I let some threads sit empty.

I try to respond to threads in our announcement and community suggestions/issue threads as soon as I can. Other threads, I tend to reply to as I browse the forums.

24 hours normally.

sometimes you actually dont want to respond too quickly to all threads, its better to let other people respond as well instead of staff immediately responding every second.

Obviously I try to respond as soon as possible. With that said, forums are not social media or instant messaging, so it doesn't hurt if a reply takes longer to publish if the comment is more meaningful for the topic starter or the conversation that's going on in the topic.

Being I currently have a very small forum, I reply to other users pretty quickly although as time goes on I'll probably try to give other users a chance to make the first reply.

Within 24 hours whenever possible if it is an administrative issue. Otherwise, just for general threads, whenever/if you get around to it, so long as activity is flowing.
