Resynchronize?

When I'm looking at the forum menu in my ACP, I see a "Resynchronize" option. What does it do? I'm afraid to press it.

I believe it means refresh, or delete all posts. Thats what I'm guessing.

It doesn't delete anything... It does no harm to the forum.

I have never actually used it before and to be honest i am not 100% sure myself what it does.

I'm 75% sure it recounts all the posts and topics on your forum if your statistics are inaccurate (if you delete posts and the number hasn't deducted from your total), or if you purge members etc. but don't hold me to this, I haven't managed phpBB 3 in a while but can't be all different from IPB.
