I recently discovered an (apparently) truly decentralized communicate/hosting platform which works on a friend-to-friend peer model (if you are interested: retroshare.net), is this something that is popular and I have just been living under a rock?
I still have an inner urge to build something of my own, and retroshare seems a bit clunky to be honest 😛 (FreeNet is the other one - but touching it is very risky I heard - due to the legal implications of doing so).
