First, I apologize for how late this review is. I've been extremely busy with my kids and other real life issues. I hope you understand.
First Impressions: (2 out of 10)
At first glance, I'm not impressed. When I first view the forum, I'm overwhelmed by a ton of boards and thier sub-boards. Personally, I think there's way too many boards and that's a major turn off for me. I also don't see very much creativity in the design given what the site is about.
Number of Posts & Members: (8 out of 10)
For the three years that your forum has been up and running, I think the number of posts and the members are alright. I see there are more messages than topics which I expected, but the amount in comparison to each other is overwhelming. That said, I think the entire staff team and all the members should each post more topics on a regular basis. Other than that, 3DS Pedia, seems to be doing alright in this department.
Activity Level: (5 out of 10)
Generally, the forum seems pretty active. Almost all of the main forums have had replies posted within the last 24 hours and many of them have been today. That said, looking at the main page only, the "Other Things Nintendo" category seems to be the least active area on your site. That said, I highly suggest making some changes to that category. You can merge the boards with other boards or remove it all together.
Another issue that I have is that there is no "Users Online" or anything like that on the forum. At least, not for a visitor. I think something like that should be visible to all users. Remember, I'm merely stating my personal opinion and suggestion here.
Site Structure: (14 out of 20)
The site is easy to navigate and it's easy to follow. The biggest issue I have with the forum is the overwhelming amount of boards and sub-forums. I think you need to find a way to hide the sub-forums from guest view or come up with a better way to display them. Apart from that issue, the site structure is sound. I like the overall layout of the forum.
Design Quality: (17 out of 20)
The site's design is simple yet effective. I love the background and the overall color scheme that 3DS Pedia has visible to viewers. The new/old icons are neat and fitting for each board.
The logo, however, seems out of place and doesn't really match the overall theme of the design or the forum's topic. The colors are wrong, the text is weird, and it doesn't go with the forum at all. I suggestion asking Matt to make you a new logo. He's really good at things like that.
Originality: (13 out of 15)
Given that the 3DS isn't widely used anymore (meaning I've not heard kids talk about it much in several years), I think the forum has an original niche. It's a great community to hang out and discuss the love of various 3DS games. That said, I think that there needs to be fewer specific games to dwindle down the overwhelming feeling when a visitor looks at the forum page.
The design is original, but the logo isn't, and it needs some work. Otherwise, I feel like this forum has Originality covered.
Spelling, Grammar & Professionalism: (15 out of 15)
Generally, yourself and your forum staff do well with spelling, grammar, and professionalism. I was impressed by all three of those things when reading through some of the latest announcement posts. The biggest issue I have with "professionalism" on 3DS Pedia, is the emojis in important threads such as hiring topics. Otherwise, you guys are on the top of your game.
Thing you liked best about forum: I enjoyed the overall design and look of this forum.
Thing you liked least about forum: The logo doesn't fit with the forum's niche or design.
Overall Mark: (74 out of 100)
I think 3DS Pedia is a great site. That said, I think implementing some of my suggestions could only help your forum. I wish you the best of luck with your site.
