First Impressions:

Upon entering your site, I immediately noticed that the site was going to be a small consultation firm for outsource contracting or small repairs in the information technology industry. Scrolling down the page I noticed that I did not have to scrounge for information on what your company is about. The home page is short sweet and to the point, which is what most users like. On the home page, I love the professional logo as well as the reasons why your company does what they do best. Another thing I noticed is how you are following your LLC requirements by having LLC in your name in the footer. I also viewed the site on my mobile device and noticed that the theme is extremely responsive and looks the same if not better on my mobile device. Something that did catch my eye was that as a small consultation firm, you do not have a contact number anywhere on the site. Overall my first impressions on your site are great. The only thing I would add or make note of is that on a guest without any IT experience, the very first thing they see can be seen as contradictory. So what I would propose is that you add a sub slogan of some sorts stating something along the lines of “Providing high quality IT services.”

Design Quality:

As stated above in my first impressions, I was excited when I first entered your site. The blend of the colors and the professional tone of the coding. I ran your site through a CSS and HTML validation to determine the integrity of the code. Other than some minor errors, nothing tremendous stood out. The navigation bar stood out to me as short sweet and to the point. You state what your services are, how to contact you and the home page. The logo is brilliantly designed, however, I noticed some small pixelation to it as there could be possibly a resolution issue or resizing issue. The footer is designed well with the dual tone dark colors. I did notice that there are social media links and icons with no related pages to social media. I would suggest to take those off until you can get an established social media network as they are just fillers in the mean time. With the footer, I would provide more information about your company. For example, address, phone number, or any important links to or about your company. I really like the fact that you have used all IT related photographs. The grammar on the website is very well thought out and has a sales type mentality to it as well as a team type mentality. I also noticed, when clicking get started on your services page, it redirects to the same page and not a contact page or more detailed page. Overall the design is good but could use some minor tweaks.

Site Structure:

I will be digging a little deeper to what I had mentioned in the design quality. The structure as is includes a total of three pages: the home page, contact page, and services page. As a business, you are also going to want an about page, and testimonial or reviews page. Most businesses are also writing blogs now. This is not a must but could be for the near future. If I were a customer looking at your site as a whole and determining if I wanted to use your IT consultation services, I would want to know a lot more information because peoples personal and critical information are on the services you are providing. Such as disaster recovery and consultation. I do like how you have an SSL certificate which leads me to believe your site could potentially be not self hosted or if it’s self hosted, you have decent security. Another thing I noticed is the security on your site is not fully there. I can access your administration dashboard login because you have not changed the URL path. This is recommended due to security concerns. Many people try to brute force Word Press and a lot are successful if the password is not complex enough. Unlike hacks that focus on vulnerabilities in software, a Brute Force Attack aims at being the simplest kind of method to gain access to a site: it tries usernames and passwords, over and over again, until it gets in. Often deemed 'inelegant', they can be very successful when people use passwords like '123456' and usernames like 'admin.' They are, in short, an attack on the weakest link in any website's security: You. Due to the nature of these attacks, you may find your server's memory goes through the roof, causing performance problems. This is because the number of http requests (that is the number of times someone visits your site) is so high that servers run out of memory. This sort of attack is not endemic to WordPress, it happens with every webapp out there, but WordPress is popular and thus a frequent target. Overall, your site structure needs a lot of work, but with the effort it is easily manageable.

Poor

originality%2016x16.png
Originality:

This is a tough one for me as many people see originality different in many different ways. The first red flag for originality that I have is that its a bought theme that's being showcased to the world from a company who does web design. It would be very nice to see a company that designs websites using their own designed theme. The second red flag for me is you are using the same default layout of the theme when it was purchased. All you did was change the text around and some of the images. Another thing that gets me is the footer. The social media icons are there but no social media pages. You also only have a contact email and no contact business phone number or address. Personally it looks like the site was just thrown together with a paid theme and you are ready to start consultation services. Another question I would tend to ask IT consultation firms is that what certifications do you posses. If you possess any, I would post images in the footer. For example, CompTIA A+, Network +, etc. With that being said the text that you have added to the site is very thought out and portrays your creative thinking as well as sales mentality. I am determined that you have plans for this site in the future and you are still working out the kinks. In today's world of the Internet, originality will make you or break you. I would strongly suggest that you get the site 100% operational before marketing to the public as first impressions can really hurt a business long term.

Business Sensibility:

Looking at your site and business as a whole, I have noticed that you state your services and a brief explanation about what they are. But what I do not see is more detailed information. I would assume that you like people to contact you for more information, but it's really hard to see all you do from the information your provide. I have questions like what do you not do with Office 365? Do you offer SharePoint assistance? Do you complete the DNS linking from Office 365 to a customers domain? Sometimes stating to a customer that you link DNS and apply for the user licenses, it makes you sound like you know what you are doing. Therefore a customer will be more inclined to say hey, this guy or girl knows what they are doing lets go with them. What I just said above would not apply if you had a phone number. If I am a potential customer looking for information about your business and all I had was an email from the site, I would move elsewhere. What about a mailing or billing address? In the technology field, you need to be accessible 24/7 no matter what happens. I ran your site through a SEO site analysis tool and it is missing one very important thing, a meta description of the site. The meta description is a ~160 character snippet, a tag in HTML, that summarizes a page's content. Search engines show the meta description in search results mostly when the searched for phrase is contained in the description. Optimizing the meta description is a very important aspect of on-page SEO. Without a meta description, it will be very hard to rank on search engines. Another important thing you are missing is keywords for your site. SEO is a determining factor in a website's success to make it or break it.

Poor

The thing I liked the best: The sales pitch of your products.
The thing I liked the least: Not having any contact information other than your email.

Overall Mark:

With hard effort and dedication you can easily make your site what it needs to be to fit into the crazy world of information technology. The great thing about your site is that once it’s done, its DONE! You will only have to put the effort up front to keep the site rolling unlike forums and blogs. You are definitely on the right track and keep it going. Do not give up or become discouraged. If you need me to give you advice I can do that as well because I am a fellow IT professional. I hope you find this review helpful!
