Site Name: Super Text Ads
Date Opened: July 2018
Review Requested (Quick/Advanced): advanced
Notes:

Hey guys can you give me some feedback on my not so new site please. I just resurrected it recently.

http://supertextads.com

It doesn't seem like there's much content or anything on it at the moment, so there's not a whole lot to review. Right off the bat, I really don't enjoy the background sound effects that are playing when the website loads. If you're going to have that kind of feature, it really shouldn't be enabled by default. I don't care for the color scheme you're going with: Black, red, a little bit of yellow. And then a blue background with that Superman logo. It's not easy on the eyes. Also, your contact form looks really odd with the white textboxes on that black background. It doesn't match.

You said that you just resurrected this website. When was it first open? In general, the website looks old. The design looks very outdated.

Thanks for the feedback. Based on your suggestions I am going to tweak it a little.

I started it back in April but I left it alone until now.

First Impressions:
The first thing I noticed about this site is it isn't easy to read to the average person. I discuss this in further detail if you continue reading this review. I also noticed the music that immediately started playing when I first visited your site. Normally, when someone has music on their site, I recommend that if they keep the music that they don't put it on auto play. That usually startles some people when they first visit a site and you don't want to start off with that feeling. But I noticed that you got rid of that music altogether so won't have to deal with potential customers being turned off because you scared them to death with the music right off the bat.

Design Quality:
I noticed you got rid of the Superman music from your site but I noticed you still had the little Superman favicon. The music and the favicon would probably be okay if you had a forum or blog that revolved around the Superman character but I don't think it would look good on your site since it is technically a business. I also think that the green and white text on the blue background doesn't look good. It kind of hurts the eyes after reading for a bit, especially the green text. You are probably going to have about a minute to a minute and a half to impress any potential customers that visit your site. Within that time frame, they will decide if they want to explore your site even further (and even decide to buy) or if they will leave your site (and never return again). The service you offer is advertising and you want to represent that well to your potential customers that visit your site so I would make your site look more professional. That may mean having someone make you a "theme" for your site that will give you that professional look (if you can make that yourself then that would be fine).

Here are something that I would do differently if I were running the site....
- Make the title of the site a bit larger. It doesn't have to be huge but I think that the "Super Text Ads" and the "Advertising that works!" text could be made a little larger that what you are currently using. This is being overshadowed my some of the other text that is currently on your site.
- You need the text to be easier to read against the background. That is usually one thing people don't like is having to read text that is hard on the eyes. The color of the text needs to be different against that background. Normally, you have colors that are opposites (like black and white) has the text color and the background. Blue and green are too close together as far as colors go so it doesn't look good to have a text color in one and a background color in the other.

Site Structure:
I know that your site is about advertising through text ads. But I would like to see a little bit better description of your site other than "Advertising that works!". I'm not saying that that is a bad description.....I'm just saying that I would like to see you expand upon that and go into a little bit better detail. Doing so can help to improve the SEO of your site and better SEO will give your customers better advertising.

I can't tell what "Super Friends" is, what purpose it has or what it has to do with the rest of the site. There is no description for it to help explain to me what it is. I think adding a description would be greatly beneficial. Otherwise, you will have potential customers leaving puzzled and confused.

Originality:
I've seen others offer advertising so your site isn't really original. One thing you can do to help your site stand out is what I mentioned in the "Design Quality" section of this review. You can make a "theme" or change the look of the site to make it stand out from the rest of the people that offer the same, or similar, services that you're offering. The other thing that can help you stand out is mentioned below in "Business Sensibility" section of this review. Those are going to be the two biggest things to help you stand out when it comes to originality.

Business Sensibility:
One thing to do regarding the business aspect of your site is comparing your prices to other competitors that may offer similar services. You are going to have to either 1) offer lower pricing that your competitors or 2) give your customers more for their money that your competitors don't offer. This will require you doing some research.....you'll need to see exactly what your competitors offer and the price that they offer it for. This is going to be something else that can help your attract potential customers to your site...offering better services or offering lower prices as compared to your competitors. You can bet that your potential customers will look around for who has the best deals out there so you'll have to do that same thing if you'll want to do business with them.

The other thing is monitoring your Alexa rank and improving it as much as you possibly can. The more you improve this, the better your advertising will be for your current customers and any potential customers you have in the future. The better your Alexa rank is can also be something that could possibly factor in to your pricing. Actually, I think the two should go hand in hand. Keeping your prices fair and still competing with your competitors while improving your Alexa rank is going to be what will drive your business.

Poor

The thing I liked the best: "Advertising that works!" - Catchy phrase will draw people in.
The thing I liked the least: The hard to read text on the site.

Overall Mark:
You have a nice website here with room for improvement. I think that it can be done and I believe that you can do it. With the right amount of research and hard work, you can make the site a great business that people will want to advertise their own sites with.

But not too long. Google and most search engines cut off meta descriptions. So, keep that in mind when you're doing this.

I disagree on focusing on Alexa. I'd rather more focus on Google pagerank.

Alexa is great for measuring traffic and site authority, but 90% of the time, the way they determine how strong your site is, is by installs of their software. (Last I remember.)

Just uh... my two cents.

I would not like to advertise on your site. Lack of content and I really don’t understand what your site is about (yeah it’s some sort of advertising nothing more). It is not clear what benefits or results I can get from it, it is not interesting - not convincing at all. Save money by paying for your web hosting for something more.

My honest rating for your site is 2/10.

Well good luck!
