Quick Review by Ravenisawesome

Analysis:

mostliked.webp Strengths:
  1. Site Layout & Navigation
The very first thing I noticed while viewing Tune Junkies for the first time was how well everything was organized. New members and guests can view site updates immediately after visiting the site, and don't have to go looking for updates, or the introduction section. Each member and even guests can find the main content of the forum with ease. However with a few more changes I think the layout could be improved.

Looking at the "Music Discussions" category on the forum, I feel that the "Post your Playlist" sub forum could be moved. Perhaps this would fit better under the "Exclusive Hits" section, since these are playlists that members make and just like the "Song of the Month" section may recommend new music to members, this would also contribute new and recommended music to members and guests. I feel since they both help members discover new music, they should be listed under the same category.
  2. Content
Overall the content available on the forum is wonderful. Tune Junkies covers most music genres so that members can start conversing about their favorite music. However I still think a few more genres could possibly added to the list, say like video game music or perhaps A Capella music? I know there are tons more music genres out there and the main genres are being covered already, but being a huge gamer I thoroughly enjoy game music so it'd be a nice genre to talk about. The easiest route I believe to take for this would be to add a "other music" sub forum so members can talk about other genres they enjoy listening to.

I have a suggestion for more content on the forum. Perhaps a forum games section could be added to the "Tone Deaf" category? It'd be nice to have a bit of a hangout area for members to relax and have fun, plus there could be games that are music related and could perhaps even be made into competitions for members. Or perhaps in the future a "Guess that song" type of competition could be added for members to win Rhythm points.
disliked.webp Weaknesses:
  1. Not enough shop items
I noticed that there's a shop on the site, where you can redeem your "Rhythm" points for various items such as a username change request, etc. However I feel that there isn't too many shop items available for members to redeem their earned points on. I did notice the highest price item is a iTunes gift card, which is great but a few more items could be added to the shop. Maybe add a feature to allow members to have bigger avatars, or maybe offer other gift cards for various different stores that offer digital music downloads such as Amazon. I also suggest to possibly change the price of the username/rank change just by a few hundred points since these features don't stand out as much as the iTunes gift card. Maybe make it to where it only costs 700 points to request a username/rank change?
  2. Theme
The next weak point of Tune Junkies I noticed were the themes presented on the forums. First off I will say that both themes are very easy on the eyes. However I just don't get much of a music forum vibe from both of them, aside from the site's banner. Looking pass the niche of the forum, to me the default theme seems to suit a general discussion forum more so than a music forum. The other theme presented on the site, titled "Verque" looks to be suite more for a technology forum and looks less appealing than the default theme. However I feel that if there were more music related icons added to both themes this would improve them.

Since there's a guitar present in the site's banner, perhaps the default theme could use a few graphics with guitar picks to suit the niche of the forum better? I think this would look more appealing that the default images found on the theme. With the "Verque" theme I feel that adding a microphone to each image would look better than the images presented on the theme. Any music related graphics would look great on each theme, though imaging the images I listed above they seem the best fit for each respective theme used on the site.

Final Remarks:
Before closing this review there is one error I did notice while viewing the forum, and thus I wasn't too sure where to add this to the review so here it is. There's a small spelling error presented in the "Music Discussion" category's title. The word "discussion" is missing the letter "u", and is spelled as "Discssion". Looking pass that, Tune Junkies provides a decent amount of content and is very well organized. Guests and new members alike shouldn't have too much trouble navigating the site and finding the right sub forums that fit their needs. There's plenty more content that could be added to the site, and I think if there were improvements done to the forums more members would join. With a few more adjustments to the theme, and a few more rewards for members to be more active I think Tune Junkies can be a wonderful forum for members to share their love for music, good luck with your forum Twisted, I wish you the best.
