Your Theme and Appearance
If you were to have requested a Full Review, I would have a lot more to say about your appearance and first impressions, but I'm going to stick with your theme here. I want to point out and commend you for using a paid theme with your forum. This isn't something totally impressive, but you can imagine how many people I review with a free theme, expecting their site to be the best. One of the signs of a really good forum is a paid theme. It shows that the admin is going to put more than just time into the forum. So, good job investing in a good, paid template.
However.. *Dun dun dun* Naw, it's not too bad, just a critique... As I browse the forum, specifically the index, I feel as if there is a lot of open space without texture. For instance, each side of the index feels as if there could be some texture there, just for the index to 'ride' on. Take this suggestion at face value, because your theme goes for a rather simple style, which is not bad at all.
Shout out for updating your site with a festive banner, and an animated one at that! It is always to keep your community active with little bits of cosmetic change here and there, just to keep things interesting.
Weaknesses:
Lack of Staff and Staff Forum Appearance
I'm sure you are already aware of this, but I have noticed the lack of staff on your board. Being a webmaster board, you will find yourself employing a good bit of staff as you grow. These include full teams of review, package, and moderators. There are ways to have your review and package team serve as moderators, or the other way around, but you still have an apparent lack of staff at the moment. Other than you, there is one staff member registered on your board. At this point in your forum-life, I would suggest only a few more. At least one to fill every position. I also understand that help is hard to come by, so just keep looking!
In addition to the lack of staff, there seems to be a lack of professionalism from the one staff member that you do have. Posts consisting only of "i joined" and "u can add interviews section in general chat forum as sub forum," are posted by one of your staff members. As you can obviously see, the grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure lack greatly from many of his posts. Going from the punctuation he uses, it seems as if he is using a French spell check, which may be the reason for his broken English. This is not how you want your board to be represented. Staff are meant to represent your board in a completely professional manner which includes professional English. I honestly can not give you a suggestion on how to deal with the un-professional representation, but I can tell you that something needs to change there, especially if he is working post packages.
Lack of Content / Content Areas
So, because you have decided to go with a webmaster oriented site, there is a lot of material that must be covered, and a lot of space to allowed to cover it. That being said, you give three forums (one more for Spam Games) under your "General Talk" category. One of those is for introductions and the other is for general chatter. There is only one forum dedicated to Webmaster Discussions. Now, I understand that when you start a new forum, it can be daunting to fill many boards up with material, so you may be tempted to just make a smaller space. This is not the best option in the case of webmaster forums.
There is so much content to cover in the subject of "Webmaster." A few sub topics include design, hosting, coding, modding, search engine optimization, monetizing, and so many others. Now, granted, these are not all suitable for their own forum, but they should not be scrunched into on section together. That was a handful, please let me know if you didn't catch my drift there.
Calendar
Before you freak out about having three weaknesses, I don't actually consider this a weakness, more of something to consider revising. For some odd reason, many forums contain a calendar that is rarely to never used, just like the one at Web Junction. Now, I can understand a calendar being used on a gaming clan website or even a website with a lot of events going on, but there is almost no use or reason for Web Junction to feature a calendar. Even with some events that you may have go on around your forum, there is a very small chance that there are enough to fill up a calendar.
I would consider removing the calendar page if I were you for a few reasons. First, you are a new forum and you already have a lot of areas with little content. Keeping the calendar adds another area with no content to your forum, making your forum seem empty. Second, as a starting forum, you are very unlikely to have many events going on. You just have no use for the calendar. If it doesn't have a use, you might as well let it go...
Final Remarks:
To sum everything up, I find Web Junction to be another webmaster themed board attempting it's fate at the internet. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but I can tell you from experience: it will take a lot of work, a lot of tweaking and changes, and a lot of stress to push a board like this to the top. Once more, please do not become discouraged at my three weaknesses of your forum. They are by no mean complete negatives, I just had a few more things you could tweak than to praise. 🙂 Hopefully my review will give you some places to start.
