A Q&A with Bazinga! and Twisted Fairytale
What do you think of the layout of the forum?
Before I touch on the layout, I want to mention how much I like the style. I feel like you've picked a very good style for the content of your board! Now, layout: The layout is fine, but I would rearrange a few boards. For example, It's not common for the Forum Rules to have their own category, that just takes up space on the index. A normal board will have one
maybe two global threads of forum rules. Nothing more, really. In addition, I would always put announcements above introductions. It just flows better that way, in my opinion.
I've also run into a problem. The board is rendering very tiny for me. The text, therefore, is not smooth and I have to give more effort than normal to read it all. I took a full monitor screenshot of how I see it
HERE. If you can see, there is a lot of space on the right which could be used to expand the width of the index and smooth out that text, if you get my drift!
Is there anything that you think should be added to the forum that would make it better or more fun?
Many forums have a general off-topic section, or other sections that don't really have a unique relation to the board topic. One of these could spice up some more activity around the board and keep members there instead of floating around other boards. In addition, running a competition, like "Read of the Month" or a "Booktalk" would engage your members and keep them coming back. For instance, reading a book together, as a forum, and discussing it chapter by chapter every week. Something to keep people coming back and interested!
Would you add a blog to the forum? Why or why not?
This is a hard one for me to answer. Here are some questions for you, to help you decide! What would the topic be? How useful would it be? Why would members read it? Who would write it?
Taking everything about The Book Nook into consideration, I don't believe that a blog would be very beneficial, especially for a new-budding forum. Why? Well, first off, you don't have too many members, there isn't much discussion going on, and I can't really think of a real reason to have a blog other than book reviews; and you already have a forum for that. So in short terms:
no, I don't think a blog would be a good idea. However, if you answer those questions above better than I can, feel completely free to consider it! It's your website, not mine!
