Has anyone used Hostgator before? Are they any good? How good is the uptime and support?

They have never been the same since they were purchased by EIG. But the other thing is that they are throwing out the best discounts out there. So it's kind of a bargain.

Really? I think they are still kind of expensive.

I decided to give HostGator a try just to test their services out. I ordered a shared hosting plan, and I didn't really have a pleasant experience with them.

After getting my site up and running, within a few days they suspended it without notice. I then get an email a few hours later saying that they need to verify the accuracy of my profile information.

This is completely fine with me, but the fact that they suspended the site WITHOUT NOTICE after it was already up and running was a bit frustrating.

After verifying my account information, I requested for a refund. It took about 2 weeks to get my refund after numerous ticket replies back and forth. Also, I need to mention that their Live Chat Support has a minimum waiting time of about 30 minutes, which is quite inefficient.

This is just my personal experience with them.

I used them about a year ago. Didn't have any problems with them other than the price. I ended up finding a cheaper deal with Namecheap, for basically the same specs (which didn't really matter since I was only hosting one blog).

I've used them for a while in the past, and haven't had any problems with them. Rarely had any downtime.
