Rewards? Prizes?

Have you used incentives or rewards for your interns/social media staff or users?
What about competitions? Have you ever set up competitions with either honour,
site cash or physical prizes?

Interested to hear the experience of anyone who has gone down this route, even
if it was just once.

I have hosted a contest on one of my now defunct forums, unfortunately not too many people participated so the contest ended with no winners but the forum was pretty quiet... I might start a Contest soon on my current forum once the video game my forum is based on is released. 🙂 There are a few members who couldn't back the kickstarter project, and they'd love to own the game so this may go somewhere. 😛
