Seasoned Review of Rival Gamer

Review by Allenafaith

First Impressions:
My first impressions of your site were awesome! I LOVE the logo. The theme also looks amazing. Everything is neat and organized. I also noticed you have the social media icons right at the top. It's always best to put them at the top so if people wanted to share your forum on social media, they'd be able to quickly and easily. I also love how you have the button to change the theme at the top too. Usually XenForo boards have it at the bottom of the website and if you're not used to that, it is kind of hard to find it. By having it up at the top, you're making yet another thing simple for your members. The only thing that annoyed me a little bit was the sign up box in the side but it had an X in the window, so I could just close out of it.

Good

number%20of%20posts.png
Number of Posts & Members:
If I am reading this correctly, you started the site on March 12, 2015. Since then, you have acquired a total of 15,580 members, 37,617 total posts, and 5,269 total threads. That is AWESOME for a site of your age. The member count is what I find so awesome. My forum has been open for a few months less than yours has been and I only have almost 300 members. My forum hasn't taken off, though. With your site being a gaming site, you have an advantage because a lot of people are into gaming. The only thing that worries be is that some sections of your forum look like they are being neglected. Some have an insane amount of posts and others don't have that many at all. I suggest taking some time to focus on the sections that have way less posts than the other ones do so they all look active.

Excellent

Site Structure:
I am very impressed with the site structure. As I said above, everything is in plain sight which is great. I hate to be on sites where I have to search really hard or ask a staff member where something is. If it isn't in plain sight, it's not worth it to me. I am having one issue, though. I was trying to check the website on my phone and it said that the server could not be found. If you have a solution to that, please let me know! I'd love to see how the structure on mobile looks. On the home page, I see that you have the "Introduce Yourself" board in a category along with "YouTube Showcase". I feel like you could move the "YouTube Showcase" down to the "Miscellaneous Stuff" board and the "Introduce Yourself" board up to the "Site Lounge" category and completely get rid of the "Home Lounge"

Good

design%20quality.png
Design Quality:
I love that you have two themes. A dark theme and a light theme. I usually prefer dark themes but the fact that you have two is great. There are some people who don't like dark themes because they cannot see what is on the page, so they'd prefer a light theme. Sometimes a theme is what can make a person want to stay and use your site. I noticed one issue while switching themes. When I mouse over the page, the little box that says "Turn the light on!" makes the page get a little longer. Have you tried to fix it to where it doesn't do that? It's not really a big deal but it bugs me a little bit.

Good

Thing you liked best about forum: I liked how simple it is to navigate around the forum the best.
Thing you liked least about forum: I liked the space in between "Birth" and "Day" in the Happy Birthday list the least.

The mobile theme looks good as well. Everything is in the right place and nothing seems to be messed up on it. 🙂
