Robo Brain

I am sure most of you have read about Robo Brain that is under development within the secret Google Labs, sometimes called as Google X. (The developing institution is actually a disputed claim, lets settle with Google X for now)

It basically is a central processing unit where all the robot can download, learn and execute complex functions using a system capable of converting youtube videos and Wiki- DIY files into machine readable robot friendly formats.

So, with Robo brain under active developemnt, do you think we would be facing a threat in the near future? How ethically right would it be? Do we need to stop this project?

Well, if robots can become as capable as humans, it can be cheaper to buy a robot than to hire a human, so jobs can be taken and many people can be left out of work; however if the robots are just for house cleaning and such, then it shouldn't be too bad.

On the question of ethics, it's that robots aren't living creatures. Even if they become self aware, it's not really an issue of whether robots should be given limited working hours, safety conditions and such. They are robots! They don't exist in nature, and without electricity they won't work. They don't have emotions (unless it's programmed) and don't feel. They aren't living creatures.

Yea. Robots could be hired for almost everything that would put humans out of work. No one would have anything to do and every aspect of life will deteriorate. From health to economy. That isnt fine.

Yeah, true, but if a solar flare or something else happened that knocked out power for a duration of time, then they'd be defunct. And even worse, if they are taking a lot of important jobs, and the power goes out for a few days, then that would put us in a worse spot.
