Anyone ever watch the first two films?

My personal favorite was the second one.

Seen them both so many times and I do enjoy watching them, not my cup of tea though. It's like anything else some old action-packed film and needs more new content for future films.

This takes me back lol I liked the first one. The initial movies tend to lay the groundwork for the storylines & you get to know the characters.

Yeah. I just wish for the 3rd one that they would have a better director and script. I was disappointed they decided to do a third one without Peter because he stated that he was done after the 2nd one, so they should have just not have gone there. If it proves anything with what happened with the 3rd and the 2013 Remake is this: It has proven that they can't successfully make a Robocop film without Peter, period. They can't do it. He is part of that formula.

The third one was so horrible I think I even cringed through it when I was a kid. It made no sense at all.

What I would have liked to see was a follow up to the 1st and 2nd film because I feel like those are the primary plotlines. The 2nd did show things were progressively getting worse with OCP from a political standpoint and it mentioned how the city was in tremendous debt to the company. They were taking the city, not by force, but by buying up property and were waiting on a foreclosure. I really liked those ideas implemented from the first 2.

And really, it wasn't Allen Murphy's purpose to stop OCP from purchasing land "legally" in Detroit. He's a cop, he's sworn to uphold the law. Not subjective morality. They could have centered the 3rd one around "New Detroit" and could have centered a plotline around that with the right script and director and have Peter Weller involved.

I didn't understand why they couldn't just bring Peter for the 3rd one.

You CAN do Robocop with a new protagonist, the issue is more of the FUNDAMENTAL of what made Robocop successful at first. Robocop was successful because it is a film, yet more... "realistic." (I was gonna say "reality show," but you wouldn't understand.)

The film is about a man being killed and then becoming a robot. Once the project becomes successful, he reconciles his life. Understanding what his life is moving forward. Robocop 2 continues this plot, but introduced a new storyline: Everyone HATES Robocop. It got a bit political, but all in all, the story maintains the realistic storyline.

Robocop 2 is basically Robocop vs Detroit.

Robocop 3? I don't even know what the story is about.. really. It got messy.

I imagine... A reboot seems like the perfect time to redo the franchise, but it panned because they didn't stick to what the franchise is really about: A realistic story about what it would be like to be a robot.

I don't even remember it. lol I liked the "remake", but as @Carlos X stated, it should have been more like the original, he's a robot/cyborg, not just some guy who happens to have robotic parts but completely remembers his past.
