Anyone looking into buying Rock Band 3? Normally not a fan of music games but The Doors are gonna be on this one, including my favorite song "People are strange", so might actually invest the $200 this time. Looks like it might be pretty good, song list alone is like 10x better than GH so I dunno.

The game has always been better than GH. It's much easier than them to innovate because they don't have Activision forcing them to yearly releases that end up sacrificing innovation. How can Guitar Hero compare to...

- Rock Band 2's Tour Mode, Battle of the Bands (especially this one), Tour Challenges, etc.?
- 2000+ songs of DLC, Imports (from Rock Band 1, Green Day, Lego, etc.), etc.
- Rock Band Network
- Rock Band 3's Pro Mode?

Harmonix has been making hit after hit (with the exception of EyeToy: Antigrav), especially from Guitar Hero 1 to Rock Band 2. I'm sure with the amount of work they put into Rock Band 3, they'll easily do better than 6/10 on IGN and such. Besides, where was the new challenge on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock anyways?

No idea, I haven't played a music game since GH3, they simply don't interest me but with The Doors I might get RB3 😛.

Yeah. They're on DLC for Launch Day, and three of the songs are free.

I blew $100 on Rock Band 2 and play it maybe 10 times a year. The new keyboard instrument looks amusing but not enough for me to get it.

Rock Band has always been better than GH.

But I don't really want to buy this. Not into those kind of games anymore.

The concept was a great idea when GH first came out. Then it got repetitive, and activision tried to milk every penny out of series. Then rock band came, and it was a nice break, as it included more than just a guitar. The GH4 came, and that was also pretty good. Now we are stuck in the same old rut for music games. Even DJ Hero looks like a waste of time.

Rock Band has kept innovating enough to keep me interested. If it were the only game of its kind in the industry I think people would be a more excited when a new title came out and music games as a whole would probably still be thriving, but GH has kind of given the genre a bad rep.

I didn't get RB3 because I had to leave my 360 and instruments behind when I moved out for college, but I hope to get it eventually, like when I'm able to find the keyboard for cheap. I've probably spent more time on Rock Band than any other game, so more is always welcome.
