CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - If you have noticed a misspelling on a large road sign for Independence Boulevard near center city Charlotte, then you have a good eye for detail.
On August 26th, a contractor working for the North Carolina Department of Transportation installed a giant green sign which reads "Indepednence Blvd". By mistake, the letters "d" and "n" were reversed.
You can see the sign traveling eastbound on I-277 toward Independence Boulevard.
Jen Thompson is a spokesperson with the NCDOT and she says they are aware of the problem.
The contractor responsible for the sign is going to place a temporary overlay on the misspelled area until a new sign is made.
They will close the right lane on the outer loop of I-277 between mile markers 1.5 and 2 on Tuesday from 8-11 p.m. to make the repair.
The correction will not cost taxpayers since the company made the spelling error.
