A few weeks ago my husband discovered that our Roku stick included Live TV! Wow. There are a lot of channels we like to watch but we won't get rid of cable yet.

One of my favorite channels is the Dance Moms channel. My husband's is ION and Ice Road Truckers.

Do you have a favorite?

It's fantastic that free live tv is becoming more and more prevalent. Plex includes live TV for all Plex Pass subscribers, too, so many channels, it's wonderful! I watch the Top Gear UK channel an awful lot 🙂

That is Roku's test run. Keep using it, and updating it. If you see a glitch, give them feedback, because they are getting ready to release their own TV's.

Ah, didn't know that!! That's interesting. I noticed that some channels don't have a lot of advertisers to fill the spots.

Yeah, they're getting THAT ready, because once they get TV's into your house and they can show metrics. Advertisers will FLOOD ROKU.

That makes OS updates better, app updates better, and not perpetually relying on outsiders like TCL (which is CHINA).

They want to be self-sufficient.

I never used Roku but we have been considering switching to YouTube TV here or something for cable over what we have. Crap is so expensive anymore.

You might when they start charging you $300 a month for crappy channels that you never watch.
That's 10 years down the road. That actually happens when the media is a "monopoly."

There are ONLY 6 corporations in the media apparatus. Only 6. They own all the newspapers, all the news stations, etc.

This digital landscape is about 20, 30 years old, but it has been around longer. 40 years max. You think it was introduced in 1990's? Nope. Longer. But this mass market? Internet has been around since 1995. I was there. AOL, Internet Explorer, Netscape, I tried it all.

I have a Roku TV but I just use Amazon Fire sticks. They bundle many of the Live TV apps such as Pluto, FreeVee, Tubi, Crackle and others in their Live TV Guide. The only problem is that you need to weed through 500+ channels to pick your favorite and then they will all show up at the top of your list. I watch a lot of Star Trek and Cook's Country. But I like the James Bond 007 for background noise.
