I been thinking about creating a RPG. So if I did what should be in it? I already had alot of ideas of my own but I want suggestions to futher improve it. I won't release any information or ideas I already have for it which I have a few 20-30 ideas for it already. But it wouldn't hurt to throw in a few more ideas from anyone else.

It will be programmed using C++. I already started on the client first since it will be the hardest part then the server. If anyone wants to help send me a PM. 😛

So does anyone have any ideas thinking that would be great for my RPG?
 
Is it going to be 3d or 2d? That is the first thing I need to know.

And first off, I say 2d because I haven't seen a good 2d rpg game in FOREVER! If it's going to be in 3d the only thing I can say is get the controls right, WoW has good controls go with that.

A 3D game is a big task. To build one that people are actually going to want to use -- rather than just for learning purposes -- you'd have to get a pretty diverse team of people working hard on it. And generally, you'll have to write all your own engines. In addition, you'll have to have 3D designers working on levels and characters.

Before you even start programming, I would take a while to plan and get some people together, and find a good way to collaborate.
 
Well one person could do it, but it would take 80% longer. I suggest at least one partner just so you don't put yourself in a caffine coma or drive yourself crazy.

It is a huge task, but it can be done. I'd start out by making pre-alphas (as far into development you can get). Little bits of the game to see people's general reaction and what you should plan for/remove. So like you make part of a level and let a fair tester try it.

I'd also suggest putting up a static webpage for the idea. First so you can get the copyright out there, second so you can possibly receive help, third to distribute game parts, and fourth an online form for ideas and anyone to contact you.

I'd reccomend if doing the per-alpha ideas, but a in game feedback form that is sent to you.
