I have been doing this. Well, I don't have any credit with banks - so this is a tempting option. It's now up to $899 dollars (Well, at least it will be after I pay a past $250 threshold.).
Good idea or not? Well, at my age, I say, "Why not?". I simply don't have time to wait for things to develop.
Oh, the key to running up a threshold is simply spending all of the current threshold - and what you do isn't reported to credit agencies.
