LOL! True. For the past year, I've kinda holed myself up because I'm studying for a computer science postgrad. It's all good, since we have other people on board to keep up with the industry while I hermit away in programming. I do have to catch up on some shows, games and so forth though and I plan to during the summer. Eheheh.

On 10th May, we'll be kicking off a month of birthday events to celebrate Sakuga City turning 1.
These will include Sakuga Idol. (Oh yes, it's totally a singing competition, but it's definitely not serious. You can have a voice like an alleycat and win if you've succeeded in entertaining people. haha.)
Mr and Ms Sakuga. We hold a couple of hilarious competitions every year to find the Mr and Miss/Mrs of the community. This will be our first time doing this on SC, but is an old tradition from A4. All members can sign up to participate once the sign up thread opens.
There will likely be a writing contest or two.
We do have a list of events, but we aren't disclosing everything until the time comes. More fun that way.
If you've already signed up, consider joining the Mr or Ms competitions, they're great fun and an awesome way for new members to get to know the community. It isn't too late to sign up and get involved if events and silliness are your thing. 🙂

The Spring Anime Podcast is now up. Some of our members and staff go through all of the new anime that is available this season and give their recommendations . Description: Sakuga City is a forum for fans of anime, video games, comics, cartoons and other elements of geek culture. We love it all! We are dedicated to being a safe and welcoming online community. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are strictly a PG13 work-safe environment. This means that our members can feel safe about browsing the forum in public spaces.
The site is being ran by the former volunteer admins and moderators of a once popular 14 year old, 120k member, anime forum. We have the experience behind us in running successful, fun communities. The old site was sold and no longer exists, so we had no choice but to start over. Sakuga City is community owned, meaning that it'll never be sold, so that our members will always have a home. It is very active for it's size due to the community being much older than the site. We of course have welcomed new members into the fold and hope that more new people will come and take part in our unique little community.
Over the years, some of our older members had long grown out of anime, but were still actively posting on gaming topics. The old site was more a general forum, but because it had anime in it's url, it was marketed as nothing but an anime site. We decided that the new site would throw more emphasis on geek culture, since our community was always more than just an anime forum, it was a gaming forum too. Our anime and gaming sections are the most active themed areas on the site at the moment, so we definately made the right decision.
In December 2016, some of our members and staff got together to create a contributor team. The contributors are responsible for articles, reviews and podcasts, all of which are exclusive to Sakuga City. Any member can request to join this group by sending a proposed draft to either Shannon Apple or KT Samurai via Sakuga City's PM system. You can take a look at some of the awesome content by our team, so far, at the link below.

On our old site, we had been interviewing people from industry. In the future, we plan to resume this. Since we have the same staff who worked on this in the past, it is certainly in the pipeline.
