Same-sex marriage now legal nationwide in the United States!

And then there's this. I hate to say it, but I'm friends with the person who posted this on Facebook.

This is a real piece of history right here, folks! You were here when it happened, isn't that crazy? This is really long overdue though, but I'm glad everyone finally came to their senses. 😛

I'm happy for the ones who are happy, but I'm not happy with the issue at hand. God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Just my two cents right there. This country is getting more and more messed up by the day it seems like.

How does a same-sex couple getting married affect you? How has today's ruling changed your life?

This country is getting messed up? Sweetie, the United States makes laws without religion views. Separation from church and state prevent laws that are in favor of any law in which forces ones religion. Thus, you Christians have no right to deny anyone any kind of right. It'd be unconstitutional. Period.

Don't like it? Move.

I am happy for the government from leaning towards giving everyone the free will and rights that they deserve. Everyone should, politically, be able to love who they want, get married to whom they want, and live their live with that person for the rest of their lives.

However, there are good reasons that Christians and other religious groups are concerned with this, and other similar decisions. The biggest case that I can think of is the Tennessee State Senate Bill 2566, nicknamed The Religious Freedom Act. The act says that no person should be forced to violate their rights for another person based on sincerely held religious beliefs. This protects people like ministers from performing marriages against their beliefs. In Colorado, there was a Christian bakery that was sued for refusing to make a wedding cake for a gay wedding. It was argued that the cake making was a form of art, and they should not have to sacrifice their religious beliefs by having their work involved in a ceremony they did not believe in. Sounds reasonable, right? They shouldn't have to sacrifice their religious beliefs to cater to another person. Well, they lost and closed the business.

That's really why Christians and other religions are worried: they don't want to sacrifice their religious beliefs for something that they don't agree with. They're just worried about loosing the "freedom of religion and expression" that we have right now. Honestly, that makes sense to me. The government can't tell me to eat key lime pie if I hate key lime pie.

However, I have no problem with what the courts decided today. I'm actually pretty proud of our government for taking one step closer to equality and freedom for all. :great:

But this has to do with marriage, nothing more. So seeing all these Facebook comments about that is kinda entertaining. 😛

Haha, yeah. You'll always have those people who overreact about something sadly.

Wow, same-sex marriage is legal, but there haven't been any floods yet. I guess Pat Robertson was wrong!!

But yeah, moving out is always an option if you don't agree with the policies of the country you're living in. Some people have been swift and told they'd be moving to Canada right off

Good for the US taking a step towards civilization though.

I'm glad this passed. I'm kind of surprised though. I figured it would take another 100 years for this to happen, especially with the bible belt states. 😛

They're running out of major countries that haven't legalized same-sex marriage yet. It will suck when their grandkids are ashamed of them for being on the wrong side of history.

HeyI'm all for equal rights, freedom of speech and religion, and I have nothing against gay marriage in general, it's just that the idea just seems so awkward and weird in the extreme. I have a few female friends who have been like sisters to me as I'm the only kid in my family, but would I want to marry any of them so I could spend the rest of my life with any of them? Probably not.

That's your choice. Why should your choice have to be the only choice? Why is what you want the only appropriate option?
