So I opened a small bottle of hand sanitizer only to discover I opened the cap with too much force and about 1/4 of it went straight into my eyes.
Baring in mind this was about 1:00 in the morning, I shouted fuck as loud as I could repetitively and made it to the shower to run my eyes under hot water

Hot water?

I wouldn't have used 'hot' water. When dealing with eyes you should always use something that wouldn't cause further damage or anything that would cause a reaction. Putting hot water in your eye will make you flinch or make you clench your eye lid making things worse.
Flush your eye with water.
Use clean, lukewarm tap water for at least 20 minutes. Use whichever of these approaches is quickest: Get into the shower and aim a gentle stream of water on your forehead over your affected eye. Or direct the stream on the bridge of your nose if both eyes are affected.

Yeah after the hot shower my eyes were really tired and itchy, and bloodshot. Should of followed the online guides but didn’t really have enough time to think as it was there and then. At least I know for next time

I know how that is. Well, not with a hand sanitizer, but something else, and not on the eyes. However, it's happened to me. I tried to open the cap, only for the liquid to be squrted at my mouth, nose, and close to my eyes. I had to spit it out, wash it with Scope (the mint solvents). Feeling like I wanted to throw up.

I hope your eyes feel better! The alcohol content can be quite irritating. I too would've used lukewarm not hot water.

Well, one way trying to stay awake 😛 I would not stress and rush over things, it happens, chill relax and think before acting and action.

Well, that sounds rather exciting! I haven't had any mistakes like that recently, but I feel for you.
