What are the computers like at your school/work?

At my school, the majority of computers are the old classics. Slow and annoying as hell. Certain classrooms do have good computers, though.

We have macs that are a few years old. Not only are they expensive (woot for lack of paper and markers. Thanks administration!), but they're also slow.

School was so long ago for me, lol.

If I can remember, the general set of computers were just complete garbage back from like the 1980's.

Only the computer classes had "decent" computers, but were still garbage. ;O

All the computers at my school are running XP, bootup is extremely slow but actual speed once booted is reasonable.

My school has Dell computers, which use XP, They are rather fast 🙂

My old school had some random computers, where the screen was attatched to the computer on a hinge, was rather weird.

Thats the same as at my school, Once up and running they are ok, but slow in browsing the internet as they use IE 6

You'd be surprised about how some interpret it 😛

Yeah IE 6 sucks, all IE versions suck. 😛

Well most of the guys at work use MacBooks but some machines run Windows and others run Linux. Our servers are all Linux built.

At school, they suck. The network is flaky, and when it refreshs, the computers crash. AND THEY ARE DELLS! 😱

I dont have any at work

My school has all Dell computers running Windows 7 that run really fast.. they are all newer flat screen models. There are two Mac labs in my school too.

My favorites:

Places Internet icon on desktop (blue e)

Compatible with IT departments that fear changes

Lightweight (no support for silly PNG transparency, etc)

More screen space thanks to no tabs

Renders all pages as they are supposed to look by the only standard that really matters.

Its the same story in our college too ! Old machines , old configurations , takes ages to startup , monitors are crappy with distorted pictures . And we have a net lab , but there's no internet . In total , our computer labs have become computer museums !

We have at least three different brands at our school. We use something that's used board-wide, and we have Internet Explorer, but many people can just install Firefox no problem. They crash a lot, many USB drives can't even get connected, and unless it's the communications department, the computers we get are crap.

Well iam not in school and none of the places i worked except McDonalds had computers but in my experience every single one of them sucked in my opinion.

The only one that didn't really was the McDonalds ones but at times it was still kinda buggy and the main computer all of them were hooked too was pretty old. Trust me this McDonalds was on a extremely low budget lol
