Here is a teaser for one of my stories on the board:
An old man in a chair at the far end of the bright crimson chamber spoke. “I have disturbing news to announce. Our most capable captain, Dominic Hire, has been captured by a treacherous superdreadnought. They claim to be part of a resistance movement against our Commonwealth, and we have no clue as to how many ships have joined with them. Given this information, I propose that we revoke the Act of Commons of 2168. Will all in favor of this motion please stand.â€
Every figure throughout the entire room stood in a single motion, and the man sighed before speaking once more. “It is done then. The work of generations is all for naught. I hereby declare this body the Galactic Confederation. This is now a totalitarian police state. All privacy laws have been revoked, and the courts have been shut down until further notice.†He then collapsed into his chair. “I am far too old for this.†With a creased brow, he waved his arm. “Guards, shoot them all.â€
In protest, shouts of terror rang throughout the room as blood splattered onto the carpeting. This was the first purge in over fifty years, but it was definitely the most bloody of them all. The old man thought for a moment that this nightmare would end in a few minutes as he awoke in a perfect world. No, he cautioned himself. I cannot lose my sanity now. It is as the ancients said. War favors the bold, and I am the bold.
