I use Windows Vista. My computer has a slot on the front for SD cards. It reads the other SD card (Kingston Brand) I have but it wont read the SanDisk SD card I have. Any tips on how to get my computer to recognize the SanDisk SD card?
My camera is broke, otherwise I'd just get the pictures that way.
Does your card reader have any brand? If it is from Kingston then it's likely it is locked to not work with other brands 😉 but I don't think this is the case.
Does the SanDisk card work with other readers except your camera? Search around and see if you have any gadget (doesn't need to be a PC, in fact for troubleshooting it's best that it's not a PC unless it has Linux installed) that accepts SD cards, and see if the SD card works with that gadget.
What I'm thinking on is that the camera formatted the card in a specific format, or even damaged it.
By the way, is it a normal size SD, a SDmini or a SDmicro?
I heard some bigger SD cards like 8GB SD cards need a SD card reader that can read SDHC SD cards the HC stands for High Capacity. Some older memory card readers can't read SDHC cards.
Yeah its a SDHC card & my computer is like 4 years old. So thats probably my problem.
My brother has all sorts of fancy gadgets, I'm sure I can use something of his to get the damn pictures off this stupid card. 😛
I found one update on the Microsoft website but every time I tried to install it, it said "This doesn't apply to your system" or something like that and would close automatically.
Try going to the device manager and go to your card reader (It's somewhere in that list) then double click -> driver -> update driver. and see if it updates from there. If not just go with a external card reader.
^ agreed, If you have a HP computer open the "HP Support Assistant" and click maintain.
Acer - It has something for driver updating but I don't remember the name.
Dell - Been so long, I have no clue.
