Is you forum Seo'd? Did you do it yourself or pay someone to do it? Has it brought any traffic to you or provided something that other forums you know dont have?

I currently don't really have any SEO for my forum, however I am going to be doing some directory promotion for it in the near future... which might help increase my site's PR 🙂

Directories are better for link noise rather than backlinks, SEO isn't just about PR infact it mainly isn't. Forum software is becoming more search friendly out of the box, which is pretty bad as forums may slowly become less of an authority unless its an older, more established board.

My forum has meta tags and is submitted to google, that's about it.

My only meta tag is for google webmasters. Aside from that, manually submited into google.

All my sites including my forum are pretty much fully SEO optimized. I use All in One SEO Pack / Google XML Sitemaps for my blogs, and seo4smf for my SMF forum.

Wasn't seo4smf discontinued because of security issues or has that been fixed?

Well, my blog has a SEO Plugin installed, and I do use the sitemaps tool on Google. I don't tend to do much work, but what I do works as my blog is a PR3 already >.>
