Is your forum listed with any of the major search engines? If so is it helping your forum by giving you more traffic or is it not making any difference?

Mine is.....I didn't submit it either. Was found organically by the spiders. It's a new forum so it's too early to tell.

The good thing is though, it did reach 52 on google for 'web design forum' with very little work, so it's potentially a good keyword phrase to target.

Yes, I frequently get the Google Bot coming to crawl the pages, and sometimes the Yahoo spider.

I know I'm on Google, but I'm not sure yet about Yahoo.

I also used a tool that submits my site to over 50 search engines.

Mine is and I didn't submit it so it must be a spider or a bot because I can type in like say 'gilmore girls rpg proboard' and up it comes in the top 5 results, each and everytime. Same with all the others.

My site is indexed on google, yahoo and msn/live but I haven't submitted it anywhere, just the bots visiting (specially gooble bot several times per day).
I do get visitors via search engines but that is rather rare 🙁

google and yahoo spiders crawl my forum regularly. i am listed if you google my site name, but i have not found my forum on a search for the topic yet. but dogs, dog training, and all the rest of what my site and my forum is about is an extremely difficult market to compete in as far as being listed in search engines goes. and it is still very new.

Google and yahoo give us quite a few visits and the site is definitely indexed by Google.

Im on google and yahoo, but i have to actually type in my link for it to show, as for traffic i dont know i get 8+ guests every couple hours but im not exactly sure if their from the search engines.

I'm listed on google, yahoo, and msn, but I don't know if they are helping me as I'm not on the first page of results for "forum promotion".

Mines on Google, and recently been added to Yahoo, i cant say iv noticed a increase in traffic though.

Mine is on both google and yahoo (as in if one searches for the whole forum URL, and you'll find links to it)... but they haven't been indexed properly... or my meta tags are rubbish! lol!

I once got a webpage as number 11 on google search (it was a male name)... and the traffic I got to the page was massive!

This forum is doing really good, number 2 on google and number 1 on yahoo when searching for "forum promotion".

It helps alot if you are near the top.. Also it depends how popular the topic of your forum is. If it is something aimed at a small number of people then not many people will search for your keywords so you won't get as many hits.

Well mines on a more specific niche. But autism is a broad subject so it would be hard to get near the top without trying on this one.

we,re

2nd on google
2nd on yahoo
3rd on ask
27th on MSN
If you enter 'futurama forum'

we're
1st on google
1st on yahoo
1st on ask
2nd on MSN
If you type in 'futurama fan forum'

And yes I get lots of guests and more importantly members from them.

One of my forums has been around for three years, so we're in all the search engines (actually, we display higher than the manufacturer of the devices we hack ... lol). I'm sure it's bringing in a good amount of traffic, though I can't say how much since we never ran a promotion or seo campaign for that forum.

On my new forum, it's also in a few of the search engines. My SERPS aren't wonderful, but it is improving. I still don't get much traffic yet from those engines, hence why I'm promoting my forum here. 😛
