Have you ever re-hired a previous staff member?

Do you believe that they should be given a second chance? We have re-hired quite a few people here and the majority of the time it turns out to be a bad decision. Mainly due to them doing the exact same thing as they done when they were staff the first time.

Although thats not always the case, I rehired a reviewer this week, and it was the best decision ive made in a while 🙂

(So yes, ive rehired a previous staff member)

Nah, and I dont think ill ever need to. Most likely, if I take someone off staff it wont be because theyve done wrong, but maybe they decide to retire, in which case theyd be welcomed back anytime they would like to.

I would rarely take anyone off for breaking the few rules I have, and if I did, well chances are theyd be banned as well :\

All of our staff, when they leave for a reason get transferred into a Retired Staff group. I trust them if they come back to get a staff position if wanted.

I think this really depends on the circumstances on why they left in the first place. For things like Family problems or other personal issues in their life I think a second chance should always be offered.

On the other hand, if a staff member leaves to work at another forum, leave if they're bored or if they are sacked for not doing any work then no a second chance shouldn't be offered...unless they staff member was loyal and a hard worker before they went.

Just my 2c. ~smile~

Hcfwesker? 😛

Depends, if they were dedicated staff who left due to lack of time or something, yes I'd rehire them, but if they were sacked, probably not.

If it's because they did something wrong, then it's an absolute no.

I just rehired a staff member today. But he left due to being busy and is not so busy anymore. As long as they leave on good terms then they can come back with open arms. If they leave on bad terms you might want to think twice about rehiring them. But then again someone can be completely remorseful for whatever it is they have done and maybe they have matured over time. I guess it all comes down to what your gut tells you. If you have a bad feeling, then dont do it, if you are optimistic about the situation, then rehire them. Thats my two cents on the matter. 😛
